Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented problem solver to serve as a Designer supporting the development of a Thermal Protection System as a part of the nation’s leading Hypersonic Production Program conducted within Dynetics’ Advanced Materials Product Group.

As an integral member of the TPS production team, the ideal candidate will serve as a Designer supporting development of mechanical and electrical drawings for a flight TDP. The candidate will be responsible for working with engineers to design support tooling with manufacturability in mind, should be capable of interpreting and creating mechanical drawings, have a strong knowledge of GD&T, be skilled with CAD software like Creo and SolidWorks and should have strong communication skills.

The applicant must be able to create mechanical and electrical part and assembly drawings, generate a bill of materials based on drawings and specs, and work closely with both engineering and configuration management personnel. This position may perform on multiple programs requiring the following, but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop manufacturing drawings for a TDP
  • Collaborate with a team of technicians and engineers to develop tooling in support of complex assembly problems
  • Generate mechanical and electrical manufacturing drawings
  • Lead reviews of design concepts and manufacturing drawings
  • Mentor other CAD users in conventions and best practices

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree in drafting and 1-5 years of experience
  • Proficient in Creo and SolidWorks
  • Experience using WindChill
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office Products and web-based portals like SharePoint
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5
  • Self-motivated, value teamwork

Other Qualifications

  • Active security clearance
  • Familiarity with military and Aerospace assembly techniques
  • CSWP certification
  • Excellent communication skills including preparing reports and presenting results customers
  • Ability to stay focused and succeed in high-stress, dynamic, and fast-paced environments
  • Strong Communication and attention to detail
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Security Requirements

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
