The System Administrator provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems. Configures and manages Windows and Linux operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, user applications, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance. Assist system users with user account and device management and troubleshooting system/service access issues. Perform configuration updates and maintenance activities to patch, secure, and maintain systems.Respond to, and help analyze/diagnose issues that degrade system or network performance to minimize downtime. Create and update documentation for common issues and processes to contribute to the team’s knowledge base. Provide input on ways to optimize processes and improve the efficiency of the environment and operations.
The system administrator will work closely with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to ensure needed system changes are compliant with the System Security Plans (SSPs).
Candidate will be expected to Document existing process and procedures, to make suggestions about and assisting in improving our current operations. The candidate will need to research new technologies, their best practices and present how to implement new technologies into our environments with a focus on secure implementations.
The candidate will be expected to work with fellow team members, our security staff as well as their user base in a constructive manner to present cost-effective, relevant, and responsive IT solutions.
High School diploma with 8+ years experience in administration of networks and information systems OR a BS degree and 4+years of prior relevant experience.
This position requires the candidate be compliant with DOD 8570 baseline certification requirements for IAT II with a current Security + CE or equivalent.
Knowledge of PowerShell, batch scripting, and automation methods is a plus.
Experience supporting RMF accreditation processes is a plus, but not required.
Familiarity with SCC scanner and DISA STIGs. Nessus experience would be considered positively.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Top Secret Clearance.
