Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented CAD Design Engineering Lead to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
Candidate will coordinate mechanical design activities for a group of CAD designers in support of the Technical Design Package (TDP) for the Hypersonic Glide Body (HGB) and Thermal Protection System (TPS). Design work will be conducted in a classified lab on a classified SolidWorks – Windchill network.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing designer workload, managing the drawing and design activity lists, submitting/assigning ECRs, conducting Internal Review Board (IRB) meetings in classified settings, conducting classified, Tabletop Reviews (TTRs) with the Army customer at Redstone Arsenal, communicating with the customer and the design activity for design concurrence and approval, transferring classified data as an approved Data Transfer Agent (DTA).
Responsibilities will also include interfacing with other leaders on the TPS program, reporting on TDP status to program managers, acting as an SME for design interface between HGB structure and TPS to ensure that TPS is prepared for upcoming design changes.
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field from ABET-accredited program with 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience
OR Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.
Working knowledge of 3D CAD and CAD revision management software (preferably SolidWorks/Windchill), familiarity with GD&T, demonstrated experience in project management, experience with leadership of three or more designers/engineers, ability to effectively communicate with customers as a representative of the company.
3+ years of SolidWorks design for DOD or similar bodies
Familiarity with Thermal Protection Systems or Composites
Experience working closely with Army as customer
Proficiency with the application of GD&T – especially profile and positional tolerancing
Possesses an active DOD Secret clearance or above
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
