Position Description

Dynetics Technical Solutions, Inc., is seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Senior Systems Engineer will provide support to the Systems Engineering and Integration Office (SEIO). This position is in support of the NASA/George C. Marshall Space Flight Center through the Engineering Support and Science Capabilities Augmentation (ESSCA) contract led by the Jacobs Space Exploration Group. This part-time position supports NASA's development of America's new heavy lift rocket known as the Space Launch System (SLS).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to the SEIO in the effort to ensure alignment and consistency of the SLS Program and SLS Element technical and programmatic baselines.
  • Provide support to the Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) effort through the performance of program-level and program-to-element baseline audits.
  • Provide assistance to the SLS Element offices, as necessary, in the performance of audits of their respective prime contractors to ensure baseline consistency down through the level of hardware production.
  • Provide regular documentation and presentational reports of accomplishments and issues with regards to baseline consistency verification leading up to the first flight of SLS.
  • Provide coordination between Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) and SLS during the performance of the incremental physical configuration audits of the SLS hardware.
  • Provide assistance to the ongoing activity of tracking and closing SLS Program Level 2 control board directive actions.
  • Coordinate and communicate as necessary across SLS organizations, MSFC organizations, and other NASA
  • Exploration Systems Directorate (ESD) programs and organization
  • Part-time support is required with flexibility to work full-time as needed to support the program

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent degree an ABET-accredited university AND at least 20 years of applicable experience.

Candidate must have extensive systems engineering and project management knowledge and experience.

Candidate must have working knowledge and experience with NASA and SLS Program systems engineering organizations and typical tools.

Candidate must have demonstrated understanding of launch vehicle systems, subsystems, and operations.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

 

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university and 18 years of applicable expereince. 

Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Engineering data systems (PLM/PDM, RMS, or data integration tools)
  • Requirements Management, Verification, and FCA/PCA/Certification processes
