Position Description

Dynetics Technical Solutions, Inc., is seeking a talented Materials Test Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Materials Test Engineer will support the NASA George C. Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. Dynetics Technical Solutions and the Jacobs Space Exploration Group (JSEG) provide engineering support for NASA programs, including the International Space Station and the Space Launch System. The Materials Test Engineer will evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform materials characterization testing and analysis under the supervision of a senior engineer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing test plans and schedules
  • Coordinating testing in the laboratory to ensure efficient operations
  • Designing test specimens and fixturing
  • Operating electromechanical and servo-hydraulic test machines to perform materials mechanical tests according to ASTM and NASA standards
  • Analyzing materials test data, reporting results and participating in customer meetings
  • Ability to support domestic travel

The majority of testing will be in room temperature air, but some testing will be in other environments including:

  • Elevated temperature
  • Liquid nitrogen
  • Liquid hydrogen
  • High pressure gaseous hydrogen

Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. The individual will be assisted by technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree an ABET-accredited university.

Candidate must have at least (2) two years of related experience.

Candidate must demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Candidate must demonstrated with CAD software.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

Preferred candidates will also have experience and/or working knowledge with:

  • Solid Edge, SolidWorks, CREO or Pro Engineer
  • Materials mechanical testing including:
    • Tensile
    • Fatigue
    • Fracture
  • Analysis of materials test data
