Position Description

In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) contract in the near future, Dynetics Space Systems Division is seeking qualified engineers and analysts to support NASA programs including HLS that will put the first woman and next man on the Moon. We are seeking project engineers, systems engineers, test engineers, electrical/mechanical engineers, stress/structural engineers, and analysts to join a diverse team in support of the development of a Human Lander System that will take us back to the surface of the Moon by 2024.

Dynetics is seeking talented Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads to join a diverse, highly skilled team to create unique solutions for complex problems involving space systems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost effective intelligence, engineering, and scientific solutions.

The Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads will support the Dynetics Space Systems Division with development of HLS with primary responsibility for managing complex IPT tasks within technical, schedule, and budget constraints. Candidates will work in a team environment to support conceptual design through product implementation and must be able to lead the integration of flight hardware from diverse technical disciplines into a flight-certified vehicle that meets performance, schedule, and cost requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with corporate contracts, pricing, and accounting to ensure IPT tasks are set up and managed according to company policies and program processes.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure tasks are completed on time and budget and achieve technical objectives.
  • Serve as the day-to-day technical interface with the customer for the IPT’s area(s) of responsibility.
  • Report to program leadership and will provide regular informal and formal status on IPT progress.
  • Identify and communicate issues and recommend solutions.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Candidate must have at least five (5) years experience as a team lead.

Candidate must have at least ten (10) years of hardware development experience.

Candidates must have experience with complex system engineering practices and processes, including the product development cycle through qualification and production.

Candidates must have experience with thermal, fluid, and mechanical systems engineering, analysis, and testing.

Candidates must also understand development program data deliverable requirements, with experience working government contracts.

Candidates must be able to work with suppliers to help them meet both hardware and non-hardware deliverable requirements.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I)
  • Structures and Mechanisms
  • Propulsion
  • Thermal Control
  • Avionics
  • Software
  • Assembly, Integration, and Test (Production Processes)
  • Launch Vehicle Operations
  • Spacecraft Mission Operations
  • Safety and Mission Assurance

The positions require travel, including periods of frequent travel for critical program assembly, integration, and test activities.

Candidate must be able to write clear, concise, and comprehensive technical reports and present results to multi-disciplinary teams and customer stakeholders.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating both verbally and in writing.

Candidate must be able to write technical reports and to present results to a multi-disciplined team.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

 

Other Qualifications

Preference will be shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.

Preference will be shown to candidates who have experience and/or knowledge of the following:

  • NASA, DoD, or other aerospace development projects
  • Integration of environmental, mechanical, and/or electrical hardware systems for NASA, DoD, or commercial programs
  • NASA systems engineering practices and processes
  • Human rating of space vehicles
  • Serving as IPT Lead on previous space system development programs

 

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen.

Candidate must possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
