The Strategic Programs office of Dynetics Technical Solutions, Inc. (DTS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynetics, Inc., is seeking a qualified Systems Safety Engineer for its hypersonics line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics Technical Solutions provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The successful candidate will serve as a Systems Safety Engineer that will handle all aspects of safety for Hypersonic Glide Bodies (HGB) and Launcher production. Specific duties may encompass identification of Safety Critical Items and documentation of hazards within systems using various analysis tools and techniques. The System Safety Engineer will need to understand the basic elements of system safety engineering to include hazard analyses, hazard categorization, end effects, causal analyses, mitigation requirements identification, documentation, tracking and implementing, and residual risk assessment. Work will be conducted in an integration/production facility along with a laboratory environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent field from an ABET accredited school is required. Candidate should have at least 5+ years of relevant experience.
The following skills/abilities are desired:
Experience with safety of mechanical/electrical aspects of missiles and test equipment
Knowledge of missile mechanical structural systems and ground support equipment
Knowledge of environmental testing of missile components and related test equipment
Knowledge of compatible materials, fasteners, coatings, processes and assembly methods
Knowledge of Explosive Safety Standards
Familiarity with mechanical and electrical drawings
Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and MIL-STD-882
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
The ideal candidate would have experience related to risk management, safety hazard analyses, familiarity with explosives safety standards for production and test of missiles or weapons and have a current DoD Secret clearance.
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
