Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Lead Engineer Propulsion Systems Rocket Motors to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Lead Engineer Propulsion Systems Rocket Motors will provide technical leadership and oversight for the acquisition of a new rocket motor for a DoD missile system. Responsibilities include requirements development, motor development oversight, test planning and test plan review and major milestone support including key test events. The selected candidate will interface with the Supplier Program Manager to be the technical lead and point of contact with the motor developer. Efforts will support program needs throughout the motor’s design life cycle, including modeling system behavior, defining the system architecture, dictating system interfaces, performing requirements verification, leading test programs, and maintaining configuration management. The selected candidate will present to the customer in formal design reviews and will serve as a customer technical liaison for motor development.
The Lead Engineer Propulsion Systems Rocket Motors will at times support multiple programs at once. A thorough understanding of solid rocket motor qualification is needed to successfully lead the motor provider to a fully qualified design. The candidate will join a diverse team of engineers within Dynetics and have the opportunity to work on programs from their preferred background, as well as challenge themselves by working on programs outside of their expertise.
The Lead Engineer Propulsion Systems Rocket Motors will be encouraged to mentor junior systems engineers and be instrumental in maturing Dynetics missile integration capabilities.
Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
Candidates must have at least eight (10) years of experience supporting DoD, NASA, or commercial programs, with at least five (5) years of experience in propulsion system design.
The candidate must have experience in deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and propulsion systems.
Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
