Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Chief Engineer - Electronic Systems to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Product Engineering Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. The individual selected for this position will be a design engineer with broad technical knowledge and demonstrated experience leading inter-disciplinary teams to develop complex electromechanical systems. The engineer will work closely with electronics integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.

The selected candidate will be a key technical leader in a fast-paced environment that includes systems in all phases of the product lifecycle from conceptual development and detailed design through manufacturing, qualification testing, and post-delivery support. The candidate will work with the customer and project manager to help define requirements, architecture, and program plans to satisfy unique technical goals. The candidate will be responsible for program technical direction including developing the system architecture, leading key design trade studies, and providing subject matter expertise during the detailed design, integration, and test activities. This position will help ensure the engineering team (of which they are a member) and the project manager (with whom they work closely with) are on the same page and able to overcome challenges (both technical and programmatic) that may arise. The candidate will also work with proposal managers to propose novel technical approaches to emerging challenges. The candidate should demonstrate experience with a variety of technical disciplines including RF, power systems, optics, complex electronics, and embedded systems.

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution with a 3.0 or higher GPA
• Candidates must have a minimum 8 years of experience developing electronic or electromechanical systems
• Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in multiple domains including digital/analog/mixed signal design, embedded systems, power electronics, RF, systems engineering, or optical system design
• Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Candidate must be comfortable working at a system level, but diving into the technical details when needed
• Candidates must have experience effectively communicating within a team environment and have experience mentoring & guiding team members
• Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

Other Qualifications

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution with a 3.5 or higher GPA

Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university

Preference shown to candidates with 12+ years of experience developing electronic or electromechanical systems for aerospace or military applications

Preference shown to candidates with 8+ years of technical leadership experience

Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of

• Leading technical teams including defining technical direction and estimating cost/schedule
• Systems engineering principles and methodologies
• Business development activities including developing briefings, white papers, and proposals
• Mentor Graphics electrical engineering development tools

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
