Position Description

Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Data Link (DL) Communications Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The UAS DL Communications Engineer will join our team of engineers to perform analysis and study to advise our DOD customers with issues relating to the future of UAS communications systems. Our team provides technical and academic counsel for government product offices to aid in architecting communications solutions to be deployed in the field to support the Warfighter. This ensures that our customers can maximize capability in a cost-effective manner as new, advanced communications capabilities are sought out.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics with >3.0 GPA from an ABET-accredited university.

Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively collaborating within a team environment.

Candidate must have experience communicating with customers and management.

Candidate must have 5 to 10 years of experience working within a RF, digital, or IP networked communications environment.

Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

  • Familiarity with data link communications for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR)
  • The following areas of familiarity are desired:
    • UAS data link and network specifications (MIL-STD, Std-CDL, BE-CDL, RFC)
    • SATCOM and LOS data link communications
    • Frequency management planning
    • Spread spectrum concepts (e.g. DSSS, processing gain)
    • Networked data link technologies (e.g. CDMA/TDMA, MANET)
  • The following technical skills are desired:
    • Digital signal processing (DSP) and signal detection techniques
    • Link budget analysis
    • MATLAB
    • IP networking
    • Linux (e.g. CentOS, Red Hat)
    • Antenna analysis

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (as well as maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.
