Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Unmanned Aircraft Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
A successful candidate will be expected to perform a wide variety of aviation-related engineering tasks from theoretical analysis and prediction to system integration and flight testing. Dynetics has a line of UAS as well as munitions for which we perform system design, integration, and testing for a variety of customers. In addition, we perform analysis, integration, and testing with a variety of other manned and unmanned platforms ranging from commercial to tactical. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in many subsystems of such products as well system integration, simulation, ground testing, and flight testing in a fast-paced team environment in which you'll work with and learn from SMEs, subcontractors, and vendors. Practicality is vital since most efforts relate to hands-on hardware and culminate in flight test, and creative problem solving is often needed when under deadlines or at test events.
Due to the variety of tasks and roles, flexibility, adaptability, and time management are valuable traits. Experience planning and performing flight tests, particularly at Government test ranges, is extremely valuable. Hobby experience such as RC flying, manned aviation, or drone racing is ideal. Familiarity with aviation regulations is desired. Familiarity with tactical UAS systems is a plus.
BS degree in Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.
Practical aviation experience a must
Strong communication skills
Ability to work on a diverse team of engineers, operators, and technicians
Domestic travel expected at or below 20% to support meetings and test events.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Advanced degree is a plus
Previous related experience is a plus
UAS or RC aviation experience is a plus
Flight testing experience is a plus
Guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) experience is a plus
Rotorcraft experience is a plus
Matlab/Simulink experience is a plus
Pilots license or manned aviation experience is a plus
Remote Pilot (Part 107) license is a plus
Experience with Ardupilot, PX4, Mission Planner and other sUAS autopilot / control station is a plus
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
