Dynetics, a Leidos Company, is seeking a talented Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. Dynetics is seeking a mid-level GNC engineer to support developmental efforts for guidance, navigation, and control of air-launched flight systems. As a result of recent growing programs, such as US SOCOM’s GBU 69/B Small Glide Munition, DARPA Gremlins, and other rapid development efforts, Dynetics is in need of a GNC engineer experienced with flight vehicles, guided munitions, and/or UAS systems. The successful applicant will demonstrate prior work or graduate level research as applied to the development of navigation, guidance and autopilot algorithms for realistic flight systems, along with an ability to support GNC development on “niche” weapon systems in a highly accelerated schedule to meet critical needs for the warfighters. Streamlined development efforts will result in concept to flight timelines measured in months, not years. Candidate is expected to support development as well as mentor and train engineering staff throughout development.
Inclusive in this process is the development and analysis of guidance, navigation and autopilot algorithms, and assisting implementation of these items in 6DOF simulations, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HWIL) facilities, and operational flight software. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of conducting trade studies for design decisions, develop techniques to assess, validate and verify performance, and support flight tests with pre-flight predictions and post-flight analyses.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or Physics with a GPA >3.0 along with 2 or more years of work or graduate level research experience with feedback control system design and analysis and knowledge of basic aerodynamic principles.
Experience with feedback control system design, to include guidance and/or autopilot development for flight vehicles
Must have demonstrated knowledge in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, and trigonometry and coordinate transformation.
Must be experienced in MATLAB and C/C++ programming.
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
In addition, experience in optimal estimation and control is a plus, including:
Experience with sensor fusion and state estimation techniques such as Kalman Filters or Particle Filters.
Experience in terrestrial navigation, SAASM,M-Code, and GPS-denied operations.
MS degree or higher is strongly desired
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
