Position Description

Dynetics, a subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Senior Quality Manager to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. Dynetics is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Manager to support commercial, aerospace, and defense manufacturing/production programs.

The Senior Quality Manager position will report to the Dynetics Quality Engineering & Control Director and is responsible for maintaining a corporate quality management system and team that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of Dynetics. The position will champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to maintain an effective Quality Management System (QMS).

Essential Functions

  1. Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines.
  2. Educates and trains employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
  3. Develops, implements, manages and integrates a QMS for manufacturing plants and large programs.
  4. Serves as the primary quality control authority for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  5. Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
  6. Plan quality staffing needs based on product manufacturing requirements, and delegate activities to lower level managers, Quality Engineer, Technician, and Inspector staff
  7. Oversee our supplier quality program, and establish a supplier rating system.
  8. Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
  9. Oversees root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  10. Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
  11. Develops quality planning methods for all product lines.
  12. Interacts with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
  13. Oversees calibration programs.
  14. Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  15. Plans and participates in internal and external quality audits.
  16. Collaborates with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations
  17. Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
  18. All other reasonable duties, as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or business administration, or equivalent number of years of experience (15+).

Must have Ten (10+) years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment experience.

Experience managing a QMS compliant with AS9100/ISO9001

Experience in leading skilled professionals in a matrix environment

Direct experience with Quality Management Tool/Software implementation and management

Experience in a start-up environment

Experience implementing QMS in a multi-site environment

Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications

Experience with J-STD-001, IPC-610, IPC-620 is a plus

Experience with CMMI-DEV and/or CMMI-SVC is a plus

Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software is a plus

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (as well as maintain) a Final Secret Clearance.
